WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2015

WED 2015 celebration dubbed “Promoting sustainability through sports” was held on Wednesday 27th of May 2015 at the City Park Hockey Stadium. This years WED celebration was organised by Kenya Organisation for Environmental Education- KOEE in partnership with Rotary District 9212. The event was sponsored by corporates and other associations including: IDB Capital, Serena Hotels, Kakuzi Limited, One World Futbol Project, Wrigley, Chase Group Foundation, Hockey Sports Association, Nairobi City County Department of Environment, and Mathare Youth Sports association. Guests were invited from relevant Government line ministries as well as agencies. Other participants included eco-schools, rotary clubs within Nairobi, interact, rotaract and environment clubs from primary and high schools as well as universities. Activities of the day included a clean-up exercise around City-park Market, Tree planting session at the venues, schools football tournament and clinics, corporates and schools exhibitions, a hockey exhibition match, presentations, speeches and an award ceremony.
