This year, fifteen different countries, including Kenya, will be participating in the “Litter Less” Campaign, which aims to reduce litter and effect long-term behavior change among youth around the globe KOEE will implement the campaign in Kenya, which is facilitated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) through its partnership with the Wrigley Company Foundation. The Litter-Less Campaign that were spent on purchasing food. The most important take away from the function was the emphasis on the idea that the whole world cares about the environment as we all feel the impacts of its destruction and pollution. These waste bins will be able to help affect positive change if they are used properly and will serve as a valuable tool to help students understand the importance of caring for the environment. The campaign’s main objectives are:
To raise awareness of the affect of litter on the local environment and wider community
To increase student knowledge and practical skills in preventing and managing litter
To collaborate with other schools to promote ESD
To report the progress of the campaign within the seven steps change framework
To produce a culminating outcome and report it through multimedia channels
Schools that participate in this campaign will design their own activity using the funding they receive and they will also connect and collaborate with other schools in participating countries. Past projects have included activities such as litterbin design competitions, implementing a school litter policy, and litter pickup events. We look forward to seeing the projects that participating schools carry out this year!
